4. Application Fields

Laboratory heating mantles (distillation heaters) are widely used in sample pretreatment distillation for environmental, chemical, pharmaceutical and material industries. Suitable for distillation testing of volatile phenols, cyanide, ammonia nitrogen, Kjeldahl nitrogen, oil moisture and other testing items.

5. Operation Instructions for Flat-Bottom Intelligent Constant Temperature Heating Mantle

  1. Plug into AC220V power and turn on power switch. Display window shows “K”, setting window shows “400”. The equipment matches K-type thermocouple with max control temperature 400℃. After 3 seconds, display shows ambient temperature, setting window shows last preset temperature.
  2. Single-key operation: hold temperature up ▲ / down ▼ key to quickly set target temperature e.g. 100℃. Green light on = heating active; green light off = stop heating. Microcomputer adjusts heating power according to temperature difference to eliminate overshoot, maintaining ±1℃ steady thermal balance.
  3. A rubber plug at lower left protects external thermocouple socket from corrosion and connects internal sensor. Removing the plug disconnects internal probe and stops equipment. Store the plug when using external thermocouple, insert thermocouple plug and tighten nut, immerse stainless steel probe into solution for precise temperature control.
  4. Thermocouple break protection: if thermocouple connection fails, display shows “1” or “hhhh”, green light turns off and heating stops. Inspect wiring before reuse.
  5. Auto-tuning function minimizes heating time, temperature overshoot and optimizes thermal balance under irregular heating power or variable liquid volume. Re-run auto-tuning after changing heating medium or experimental conditions.
  6. Activate auto-tuning: hold shift key “◄” for 5 seconds; flashing digits indicate auto-tuning running. Digits stop flashing after three temperature overshoot cycles to finish calibration. Must run at initial heating stage; mid-process calibration yields inaccurate parameters.
  7. Shift key: press during setting mode to shift flashing digit for modification.
  8. Down key: single press to decrease value; long press for continuous decrement.
  9. Up key: single press to increase value; long press for continuous increment.
  10. If no key pressed within 1 minute under setting mode, controller auto returns to normal display page.

General Simple Operation Steps

  1. Clean outer surface of sample vessel thoroughly and place firmly inside heating mantle.
  2. Connect power supply and turn on main switch; indicator light illuminates.
  3. Immerse temperature probe into sample liquid.
  4. Adjust temperature knob to target value; equipment auto switches between heating and holding modes.
  5. Cut off power after experiment completes and turn temperature knob to low position.

6. Safety Precautions for Flat-Bottom Intelligent Heating Mantle

  1. Equipment must be reliably grounded.
  2. White smoke and peculiar odor with color change white→brown→white during initial use is normal, caused by residual oil and compounds on glass fiber. Ventilate for several minutes before formal experiment.
  3. Slight buzzing sound for mantles ≥3000mL is normal, related to heating wire structure and SCR pulse signal; safe to operate.
  4. If liquid spills into mantle, cut power immediately, place in ventilated area and fully dry before reuse to avoid leakage or short circuit hazards.
  5. Store in dry, corrosion-free environment when idle long-term.
  6. Forbidden to run empty for heating or dry burning.
  7. Inductive static electricity may transfer to housing through insulation under high humidity; mandatory grounding and good ventilation required.

7. Pre-Operation Safety Warnings

  1. Read full user manual carefully before first use.
  2. Power socket rated capacity must exceed equipment rated power with reliable grounding wire.
  3. Cut off power fully before replacing fuse.
  4. Do not move equipment while heating in progress.
  5. Keep children away from heating cavity to prevent scald accidents.
  6. Avoid heavy impact on machine body.
  7. Do not operate under high temperature or direct sunlight environment.
  8. Immediately shut down and cut power if abnormal status occurs.
